Throughout the braiding the loops should be kept gently taught. The following illustrations demonstrate the process, using the right hand as the initial "three loop" hand:

Firstly, the loops are "walked" down the hand using finger dexterity, starting from the lowest loop. For this example, the ring finger loop is moved to the little finger, then the middle finger loop is moved to the ring finger.

Finally, the top loop is hooked by the middle finger so that it passes over both the index and middle fingers.
